Day 2 : In Ahmedabad Early this morning embark on an excursion to Nal Sarovar Water Bird Sanctuary, which is one of the best of its kind in India during the winter months, teeming with thousands of cranes, flamingoes, pelicans, ducks, storks, herons and other birds. You can enjoy boating on the lake to experience a sunrise or sunset view. Country boats are also available for bird watching. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Day 3 : Ahmedabad / Dasada Early in the morning you will drive Dasada, the base for visiting the Wild Ass Sanctuary in the Rann of Kutch. On arrival check into camp. Late afternoon embark on a safari into the Little Rann of Kutch Sanctuary, which is the home to the Asiatic Wild Ass, Blue Bull, Indian Gazelle, Wolf, Jackal, Desert Foxes and a huge variety of birds. Overnight at camp. Day 4 : In Dasada In the morning visit the Bird-rich lakes along the Rann of Kutch. In the afternoon visit the Visadpura Black Buck area. Overnight at camp. Day 5 : Dasada / Gondal This morning you will drive to the town of Gondal, an erstwhile princely state and a paradise for bird watchers. On arrival check into palace resort. Later visit the lake and the royal grasslands that attract a variety of birds like cranes, pelicans, flamingoes, ducks, partridges, quails and other animals like blue bull, jackals and jungle cats. Overnight at palace resort. Day 6 : Gondal / Gir
This morning you will drive to the Gir National Park, the last abode of the Asiatic Lion in India. On arrival check into resort/lodge. In the afternoon embark on a safari inside the Park to view wildlife. Apart from the famous lion, panther, deer, antelope and a variety of birds can be spotted in the park. Overnight at resort / lodge.
Day 7 : In Gir
Today embark on morning and evening jungle safaris inside the park to view wildlife. Overnight at resort / lodge. Day 8 : Gir / Somnath / Diu
This morning you will drive to the erstwhile Portuguese enclave of Diu. En route visit the legendary shore temple of Somnath, which is one of the twelve most sacred Shiva shrines (or Jyotirlinga). Continue drive to Diu and check into hotel/beach resort. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at hotel/beach resort. Day 9 : Diu / Palitana / Bhavnagar
This morning you will drive to Bhavnagar en route visiting the Jain temples at Palitana located atop the Shetrunjaya hills. This is one of Jainisms holiest pilgrimage sites with 863 temples exquisitely carved in marble and built over a span of 900 years.Drive on to Bhavnagar and check into hotel. Later tour the city, which was once the capital of a princely state. The places to see include the Takhteshwar Temple, which is located on a small hillock and provides good views over the city and out into the Gulf of Cambay, Gandhi Smriti Museum and the Bazaar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 : In Bhavnagar
In the morning embark on an excursion to the Velavadar National Park which is known for its thriving Black Buck population and Harrier Roost. Overnight at hotel. Day 11 : Bhavnagar / Mumbai
In the morning you are transferred to the airport to board flight to Mumbai, the commercial hub of India. On arrival you are met and transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon embark on a sightseeing tour of Mumbai City visiting the Gateway of India, Hanging Gardens, Dhobi Ghat, Marine Drive and other local sights. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12 : Mumbai Departure
Today you are transferred to the airport to board your flight for onward journey. |
