Tour Details: 7 Nights / 8 Days Day 1 : Monday : Bangalore
Report at The Taj West End Hotel by 4 p.m. for check-in formalities followed by high tea & brief presentation.Proceed for vist to art gallery,followed by cultural program. Reach Yeshwantpur Railway Station, by 8 pm & be escorted to respective Cabins.Dinner on board & train departs by 9 pm for Chennai.
Day 2 : Tuesday : Chennai & Mamallapuram Morning from 9 am to 12 Noon discover the old charms in modern cosmopolitan city of Chennai,driving through beach road & visiting St Thomas Church & Cholamanda Art Village.
Later drive to Mahabalipuram for lunch at beach resort ,followed by visit UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sea Shore temples ,built more than 1200 years ago.Return to Chennai Railway station by 630 pm & depart
Day 3 : Wed : Auroville & Pondicherry Morning excursion to Auroville-a modern commune ,dedicated to unfification of all religions. Return to train for lunch
Afternoon stroll through beach town of Pondicherry-this former French colony, exudes a Mediterranean aura with French style architecture and boutiques. Proceed for dinner to eco-resort & later return to train & depart.
Day 4 : Thurs : Tanjavur World-famous for Brahadishwara temple, a historical monument dating back to 11th century which now is an UNESCO World Heritage Site . The region also offers unique Tanjavur style paintings and Tanjavur dolls. Day 5 : Fri : Madurai The temple city of , Madurai has a rich cultural heritage that goes back to over 2, 500 years. The city is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi temple which stands today as one of the country’s greatest architectural landmarks. Close to the temple is situated yet another architectural wonder, the Tirumalai Nayak Mahal, a classic blend of Dravidian, Islamic and European architecture.
After breakfast,visit famed Meenakshi Temple & stroll through the local market.Return to train for lunch.
Late afternoon visit Poompuhar Handicrafts Emporium for optional shopping.proceed to Tirumalai nayak Mahal for sound & light show,followed by dinner & traditional folk performance at The Heritance.Return to train & depart
Day 6 : Sat : Kanyakumari, Trivandrum & Kovalam Kanyakumari, sun rise point -at the tip of peninsular India, offers a panorama of the confluence of the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
The Kanakakunnu Palace ,located in Trivandarum city was built in late 19th century by travoncore royalty.The interiors are decorated with large crystal chandeliers and exquisite pieces of royal furniture. Kovalam, Beach located on Arabian Sea offers a natural cove with shallow waters stretching for hundreds of metres & are ideal for swimming.
Early morning 0545 am to 8 am proceed to Kanyakumari sunrise point & brief city tour.Return to train for breakfast & depart.Lunch also on-board late afternoon visit Trivandarum Palace & evning excursion to Kovallam beach,followed by Gala Dinner & cultural program in Luxury Beach resort
Day 7 : Sun : Kerala Backwaters & Kochi
Morning visit Alleppey is also known as the “Venice of the east”. & more famous as Kerala Backwaters Enjoy boat cruise through its canals ,which takes you past scenic islands ensconced with coconut and palm trees. Afternoon visit “Queen of the Arabian sea”, Kochi is a vibrant cosmopolitan city famous for its Jewish Synagogue and the Dutch palace. Day 08 : Bangalore Return
Morning train returns to Bangalore.Tour ends IMPORTANT : The Day to Day Schedule may be changed at short notice by the Train Manager,to suit local logistics.
